Printing.com and the Environment

Each year 900,000,000 trees are felled to make paper. Each tonne of recycled paper produced saves 19 trees. Last year we planted 10,000 trees and plan to plant another 15,000 this year!

You want a responsible printer
If something is to be printed then paper is going to get used. What matters is whether we can supply you print in a way that minimizes waste, uses recycled materials and encourages the right behaviour in others? Well, we think we can.

Our environmental approach is better than most
First, we only print using vegetable inks. Second, we have a range of 100% post consumer waste recycled paper and card. And third, wherever we can, we source our stocks from accredited sources. To take a look at our Stock Accreditations click on David's head!.

Other things we do at our central printing facility include:

1. We're ISO 14001 accredited (the enviromental standard)
2. We act to continuously reduce waste production
3. We separate waste into 17 streams for recycling
4. All waste is compacted to minimize transportation impacts
5. All printing plates are recycled
6. All printing chemicals are disposed of responsibly
7. We use vegetable based inks for printing
8. We have ink supplied in large drums to minimize packaging
9. We have minimized the packaging used for finished print
10. All our delivery cartons are produced from unbleached board
11. We use as much elemental chlorine free wood pulp as we can
12. All our pulp is sourced from sustainable forests

And at Printing.com Bradford we:

1. Recycle cardboard, paper and plastic wherever possible
2. Re-use envelopes as note paper
3. Always double side print our internal documents
4. Have set our printer to ‘draft’ mode to save ink
5. Recycle our toner cartidges
6. Switch off our computers at night
7. Only switch on the lights we need
8. Only boil enough water each time for the cups of tea we need!

So all in all, we think we’re not doing bad. But if you think there’s more we could do or if the things we’re doing are ‘off mark’, please contact us.
